Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy

Learn the required skills, roles and responsibilities to provide emergency life support in the workplace at an industry standard. Successful students will have the ability to respond to a variety complex emergency events. This course is delivered on behalf with Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909 and includes a short online pre-class component.

This Advanced Resuscitation course is delivered in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and first aid code of practice and applies to those who may be required to provide first aid, CPR and oxygen in a range of complex situations, including community and workplace settings.

Simulated real-life situations will be used to develop the skills and knowledge for using and maintaining specialised equipment for the provision of first aid, resuscitation, and oxygen therapy.

Instruction on first aid and CPR will be provided, as well as treatments specific to advanced conditions, such as inserting an appropriate basic airway adjunct, using tourniquets and haemostatic dressings for life-threatening bleeding, and administering oxygen safely at the correct flow rate.

The course covers recording casualty condition, conveying incident details, completing workplace incident documentation, and debriefing for recognising areas for improvement, psychological impacts, and seeking help as required.

Qualification

Participants who have completed the HLTAID0015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy course and have been assessed as competent in all assessments will receive a digital Statement of Attainment in:

  • HLTAID015 – Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy
  • HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Certificates will be issued within 24 hours of completing the course.

There are no pre-requisites for the HLTAID0015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy. Participants are however required to have a minimum level of Literacy and Numeracy to be allowed admittance to this course.

Please notify us if you have any medical conditions or special needs that may prevent you completing all practical assessments. This includes performing single rescuer CPR on a resuscitation mannequin placed on the floor for a minimum of 2 minutes.

Course Durations

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

  • Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 6 Hours
  • Online with face-to-face assessment Face to Face contact time of at least 3 Hours 30 Mins

Entry Requirements

Participants must have the physical capacity to perform the practical demonstrations, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor and performing rescue breathing techniques on manikins.

Online study:  Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet or other electronic devices with access to the internet to complete the online/ pre-course studies.

This course has a pre-requisite of HLTAID011 Provide First Aid which much be completed prior to undertaking this unit of competency.

PLEASE NOTE: HLTAID003 Provide first aid is not equivalent to HLTAID011 Provide First Aid and can therefore not be used as a substitute for the pre-requisite requirement.

Assessment Activities

Performance tasks and practical scenarios:

  • Perform CPR on an adult (incl. the use of bag-valve-masks, oxygen equipment, an AED and placing the casualty into the recovery position)
  • Perform CPR on an infant
  • Manage a casualty with a life-threatening bleed and provide oxygen
  • Complete an incident report
  • Maintain resuscitation equipment

Theory assessment: A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions.

Certificate Renewal Requirements

This certificate has an industry recommended renewal period of 12 months
